Or so they say at VPRO, a progressive dutch public broadcaster with an extensive track record in online publishing, an organization that attracts many passionate and talented storytellers. In cooperation with them, Robin’s role consisted of equal parts conceptualization, interaction design, visual design and implementation for online storytelling.
So, a generalist, rather than a specialist.
Online design has gradually evolved from layout and navigation design to full application design. The most recent developments – what a treat to live through two media revolutions – put more emphasis on dialog and personalized, scalable content, either through natural interface solutions, or through generative remediation of the subject. The new challenge will be tuning your narrative to appeal to an audience that is getting more and more accustomed to personalized communication, and, as a result, less patient with interface navigation learning curves.

Robin is a photographer
But he’s an amateur. In the most literal sense of the word. When digital photography took off, Robin started to bring a camera along on art and architecture trips. The solid theoretical and technological foundations may not be there, but photography has become as much of a hobby as designing creative solutions for online storytelling still is.
This website is where you will find posts covering those photo-excursions, and posts about design, architecture and internet favorites. The photos section contains a selection of personal favorites.
