Ai Weiwei’s as yet largest retrospective is called Evidence and addresses his problems with the Chinese government. This results in sometimes rather tame works like a neatly ordered collection of computers that were once seized by the police and a reconstruction of the prison cel Ai Wei Wei visited for a while, in rooms with warrants as wallpaper. The news was better.
Luckily the exhibition in the Martin-Gropius-Bau also contains some added conceptual works that leave more to the imagination and are much more impressive.
