Not far away from the André Dumont coalmine, where Manifesta 9 is held, the former Waterschei mine has transformed into a modern day industry museum.

While the original machinery still plays the main part on the ground floor, one of the mineshafts underneath features the C-Mine Expedition, an exhibition in which artists have translated coalmining elements like parakeets or mine gas flash explosions into multimedia installations that add much to the museum’s experience.
